Install guide (PDF)
Install it
About two minutes, once.
- Open Trade-Clips-0.10.0-arm64.dmg from your Downloads folder. A small window opens.
- Drag the Trade Clips icon onto the Applications folder in that window.
- Open your Applications folder and double-click Trade Clips.
The first time only: let your Mac open it
Your Mac may say it can't check Trade Clips for malware. That's expected: Reece made it himself, and it isn't from the App Store.
- Click Done on that message (not Move to Bin).
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, then scroll down on the right.
- Next to “Trade Clips was blocked…”, click Open Anyway. Enter your Mac password if it asks, then click Open Anyway again.
That's it. From now on Trade Clips opens like any other app.
Still won't open?
If it keeps refusing, or the first export says FFmpeg can't start, open the Terminal app, paste this line, press Return, then open Trade Clips again.

Making a clip
Click New Clip, add the chart and face recordings of the trade, then follow the steps on the left: Recordings, Line Up, Layout, Adjust, Sounds & Text, Export. When a step is done, the blue button at the top right moves you on. Everything saves by itself, and the app works offline with no account.
New in 0.7: several videos in one clip, and deleting old clips. On New Video, drop in several videos at once, or click and ⌘-click to choose them. They play one after another, each filling the whole vertical frame. Drag them into order, then cut, split and speed them up on Adjust and add sounds, music, text and captions as usual. On the clips list, Select lets you tick old clips and delete them, or Select All and delete them all; your recordings and exported videos are never touched.
Clips from any video (since 0.6). Click New Video (or press ⇧⌘N) and drop in a video. It fills the whole vertical frame: a vertical video shows whole, and any other shape is cropped to its centre. There's nothing to line up or lay out, so you go straight to Adjust, then Sounds & Text for sounds, music, text and captions, then Export.
Captions and thumbnails (since 0.5). In Sounds & Text, Make Captions writes out what you say in the clip, right on your Mac; nothing is uploaded. Click a line to correct it, choose the length, size, style and colour, and drag a caption on the phone to move them all. Captions show where the clip plays at normal speed. On the Export step, pause on any frame and press Save Thumbnail… to save it as a full-size JPEG.
Adjust (since 0.4, it was Mark Trade). Press S to split the clip into parts, then give each part its own speed (up to 8×), turn the P&L off for a zoomed-out chart, frame the chart and face its own way, or remove it. I and O set where the clip starts and ends. Nothing is required, so a talking-head clip with music and text works too. Clips made in 0.3 open as they were.
Sounds & Text (since 0.3). Add your own entry and exit sounds (while the clip plays, press E or X to place each one), background music, and text with emoji over the clip. Add a long music mix once, and the app splits it into its songs; New Song Each Clip gives every clip the next one. Your sounds, music and levels carry over to the next clip.
